If you have already seen the decoration of my living room
, you will know that precisely those two materials are the protagonists of my furniture and the style is very similar to what they offer.
I was looking for furniture with a certain quality for my living room.
The Ikea furniture is very good and I use it in certain parts of my house as you can see here, but the truth is that those pieces of furniture are very bad for moving (they have suffered about 5 in two years) and in the end a piece of furniture is not something that you change every year, they are amortized a lot more and you use them every day.
So I thought about raising my budget a little.
But wait! A bit is a bit … and as soon as you leave the low cost, finding furniture with design and quality without paying a fortune is almost mission impossible.
That’s why I think it’s interesting that I show you places where you can buy just that, quality furniture, with design and at prices that can be paid for earthly salaries.

But that’s not going to happen to you because I’m going to tell you everything that has made me fall in love with the brand, right now!
Lets start from the beginning.
The brand and its philosophy
Bois et Fer was born in San Sebastian following the need to find a piece of furniture that reflected the style, character and way of life of its founder, Gary de la Fuente.
The materials were a fundamental part of the idea:

With these two elements they created their first table.
They design and produce furniture for all kinds of people and tastes. Its strong point is the custom design, adapted to each person and to each taste.
In addition to their standard pieces, they can manufacture for you the furniture of the material and color that you want, and this does not mean at all that they will be more expensive !!
We tend to think that if they do something expressly for you it will be very expensive … mistake! Precisely Bois et Fer was born for that, to offer you the possibility of adapting the furniture without it being more expensive, you simply will have to wait a bit longer for it to be done.

How and when did Bois et Fer started?
According to what they told me, in 2012 the company starts from the need for a furniture from its creator and founder, Gary de la Fuente.

Gary was looking for a table and benches for the dining room of his house but he could not find something according to his taste, or what he found was sold at a high price in European markets. Does that sound like something?
He decided to build himself what we now know as Anie dining table; a 30mm lacquered tube dining table and oak top. This is how Bois et Fer begins.

What type of products will you find in Bois et Fer?
They design furniture adapted to each taste, to each corner and to each story, creating pieces made to measure, with simple, timeless and contemporary lines.
The characteristics of its products are:
ARTISAN: furniture produced by hand that are as natural and similar as possible to the raw material with which they work. On its website you will find furniture of its own design, which is named after the Basque-French mountains.
CUSTOMIZED: As I have already mentioned, the strong point of Bois et Fer are the FURNITURE MADE TO MEASURE.
You can design the furniture you want and how you want. And being made to measure is not necessarily more expensive.
If you buy a piece of furniture that they have in stock, the only difference with a custom piece, is that you will not have to wait 5 weeks for it to be manufactured (except for furniture with some tare and those in the outlet).
If you only have the idea but you do not know how the design could be, tell them what you need and they will help you with the design.

What are they inspired?
The furniture of Bois et Fer is inspired by Scandinavian design, that is to say, the functionality with simple and refined lines.
But the brand gives more warmth to furniture and aesthetics, something very sought whenever we think of our own home.

The name comes from the Sierra de Aralar, located between Navarra and Guipúzcoa, it is a plateau formed by different summits whose names have been borrowed for the new collection of furniture. The Aldaon bookshelf, the Alleko coffee table, the Akier dresser, etc.

It can and it is very simple since they have a very clear and structured web page.
In it you will find details of all their products with different photos of each one, a brief description of the materials, the measurements and the price excluding VAT.
You can add the quantities of the product you want in the shopping cart where the final price with VAT will appear.

- Delivery term
The estimated delivery time in the case of products that they have in stock will generally be between 48/72 hours. You will be informed quickly of any alteration on this.
In the event that the product is made especially for you, the delivery time is 4/5 weeks.

- Payment
All purchases can be paid with a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card.
Both platforms are secure, guaranteeing the proper and confidential management of your data.
- Assembly
You can choose if you want it to be mounted or do it on your own.
If your furniture needs assembly when included in the cart, the assembly option will appear with its price and that is where you have the possibility to select it and it will be added to your order.
- Shipping costs
Shipping costs are indicated during the purchase process when entering the destination and depending on the package, so in a quick walk through its website you can find out.
As a reference I will tell you that the shipment can be around 40-60 €, but it is an approximate figure, it always depends on the furniture and the destination.

- Returns
Returns are accepted except in products made to order under request.
In the case of other products, you have the right to return them within a period of 14 calendar days without the need for justification. The direct cost of returning the goods will be borne by the user.
In the event that the reason for the return is a manufacturing defect, the full amount will be returned, including the cost of transportation.

- Financing
I know that furnishing a house is a big expense and it does not come alone as it usually comes with decoration, textiles, and plants, especially if you are a plant nut like me.

How to know the price of a custom furniture?
The big advantage is that the price of a custom furniture is not going to be more expensive than one they already have designed. The price simply will adapt to the characteristics of measurements, material and finishes that you request.
So if you like their designs but do not adapt to the budget you have, do not be afraid about the price.
On your website Bois et Fer has a section called CREATE YOUR OWN FURNITURE. There you can choose what type of furniture, what measures you need, finish and thickness for the wood, color of the varnish, type and color of the structure and a section to specify the details.

What prices are we talking about?
Okay, we got to the million dollar question, the price.
As I explained to you at the beginning, these are not low cost pieces and I think the pictures speak for themselves.
But for the design and the quality they have, I think they are very affordable.

Lately I was looking for tables to retire the one I currently have (which does not go along with me and my house), and among my conclusions is that quality is important for a table. It is a piece of furniture that we use daily, in which we often put weight, drag it, etc. It’s worth it to be robust.
